AfterShip Order Tracking + TrustShop

Send review request emails based on order delivery status.

Most stores ask for a review the moment an order ships. The customer has not opened the box yet, so reply rates stay low and the reviews that do arrive say very little. Connecting AfterShip lets TrustShop wait until the parcel is actually delivered — and then wait a few more days, if you want — before it asks.

What you can do

  • Trigger review requests from delivery rather than fulfilment, so nobody is asked about a parcel still in transit.
  • Add a delay after delivery — seven days is a good starting point — so customers have actually used the product before they write.
  • Set fallback timing so orders whose tracking never reports back still get a request instead of going silent.

Before you start

  • TrustShop Unlimited plan. The order-delivery trigger is part of it.
  • AfterShip Pro plan. The two apps talk over a webhook, and AfterShip only allows adding webhook URLs on Pro.
  • AfterShip Order Tracking installed on your store from the Shopify App Store.

Connect TrustShop and AfterShip

You will move a webhook URL from TrustShop to AfterShip, then a webhook secret back the other way. Keep both tabs open.

  1. In TrustShop, open Settings → Integrations, find AfterShip Order Tracking and click Manage.
  2. Copy the Webhook URL.
  3. In AfterShip, go to Notifications → Webhook and click Add webhook URL.
  4. Pick a webhook version. The latest one is recommended.
  5. Paste the webhook URL from step 2 and click Add.
  6. Under Events / Shipment data, choose All status updates, or choose Specific status updates and tick Delivered.
  7. Copy the Webhook secret that AfterShip shows you.
  8. Back in TrustShop, paste it into Webhook Secret and click Save.

Choose when the email goes out

  1. Go to Settings → Collect Reviews → Review Request Emails.
  2. Select Review Request and click Settings.
  3. Under Email Scheduling, set the trigger to Order Delivery.
  4. Add a delay if you want one, for example seven days after delivery.
  5. Set Fallback Timing. We recommend it — see the next section for why.
  6. Finish the rest of the email setup and click Activate.

What happens after an order ships

New orders appear in Review Request History with the status Waiting for delivery. As soon as AfterShip reports the parcel delivered, the email goes out on the schedule you set.

Tracking does not always report back — a carrier goes quiet, or the order never carried tracking in the first place. That is what fallback timing is for: it sends the request anyway once your fallback window passes. Without it, the order simply sits at Waiting for delivery until you send it manually or cancel it.

Troubleshooting

AfterShip will not let me add a webhook URL

Adding webhook URLs requires the AfterShip Pro plan. There is no way around this from the TrustShop side.

The connection shows as active but no emails go out

Three things to check, in this order: the webhook secret in TrustShop matches the one AfterShip generated; the shipment data or events are configured on the AfterShip webhook; and the orders themselves actually carry delivery tracking information.

Requests are marked Canceled

Hover over the Canceled status to see the reason. It is usually Order missing tracking information or Order tracking app not connected.
